Japan loves the new iPhone5C case! Now they can grate radishes anytime, anywhere

With the unveiling of the next iteration of iPhones, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C a lot has been said about the iPhone 5C’s official protective case. I won’t bore you with all the details, but the words “aesthetic train wreck” tend to get bandied about.

People in Japan, however, get it very much. They see the brilliant functionality that helps them with a daily chore which an app could never fulfill. It helps them garnish their dishes with grated daikon, for instance…

I mean come on, you didn’t really think Apple would just randomly put a bunch of poorly aligned holes on the back of their case for no reason, did you? The company’s official iPhone5C case was instantly recognizable to Japanese people as a grater for making a slushy, pulpy daikon topping to add to your favorite dish.

For years, we’ve heard how there’s an app for this and an app for that, but never once has there been an app that could grate your daikon. That’s why Apple stepped in and taught us all to dream again by saying, “nothing is impossible with the iPhone, not even food processing.”

That must be what they’re saying, right? Why else would they charge 30 bucks for a piece of plastic with a bunch of holes in it?
