Sesame Street Fighter, the most badass children’s TV show ever (if only there were a show for it)

I grew up watching the characters on Sesame Street count numbers, spell words, and sing songs about goldfish and birds. Even after I had outgrown the long-running children’s series, I had to sit through it again while babysitting my little cousins. And my guess is that many of you out there went through a similar experience since the show has been on TV since 1969 and is broadcast in over 140 countries worldwide.

How many of you then subsequently got hooked on to the arcade game Street Fighter II in your school days? I definitely did, and this guy called gavacho13 on Deviantart probably did too, as he has been creating some awesome illustrations of the Sesame Street Fighters!

▼ Elmo + M. Bison = Elmo Bison

▼ Guile + Kermit = Gurmit

▼ Balrog + Rowlf The Dog = Baldog

▼ Cookie Monster + E. Honda = C. Monda

▼ Zangief + Telly Monster = Zellygief

▼ Ken + Ernie = Kernie

▼ Ryu + Bert = Beryu

▼ Sagat + Big Bird = Big Bagat

▼ Oscar The Grouch + Blanka = Oska

▼ Chun-Li + Miss Piggy = Pig-Li
Artist’s note: “Yeah, yeah, I KNOW Miss Piggy wasn’t on Sesame Street, but c’mon, who else was I going to use?”

▼ Dhalsim + Grover = Grhalsim

▼ Akuma + Count = Acountma

▼ Sesame Street Fighter!

These incredible crossover characters are also available as stickers, t-shirts and other merchandise, so if you’re a fan of either Sesame Street or Street Fighter (or Sesame Street Fighter, for that matter!), check out gavacho13’s online shop!

Also, what’s Street Fighter without having a game for it, right? Somebody created a Sesame Street Fighter typing game, which incorporates both the educational element of Sesame Street and the fighting element of Street Fighter!

▼ Here’s someone trying out the game.

And to finish off this post… TAKE THIS!

Keep up the incredible work, gavacho!
