Self-taught Singaporean artist creates unbelievably realistic art on plywood

• Jessica Dec 6, 2014

Look at the two Starbucks cups above. Can you tell which one is real and which one is a creation of colored pencils, pastels and ink? If not for a tiny bit hanging off the edge of the wood, we’d have been hard-pressed to choose.

This is the incredibly realistic work of Singaporean artist Ivan Hoo.

Hoo, who is self-taught, says he “loves to draw realistic art or artworks that tease the eyes and the brain.”

Consider our brains teased, sir.

▼Safety first, only illusory matches on the plywood.

▼I’ll just wipe that up. Oh, wait…

▼Mmm, delicious Nutella.

▼Hang this one on your bathroom wall and really confuse visitors.

▼Good thing that’s not real wine being wasted.

▼ …Gesundheit.

He also draws some straight-up cute puppies and kitties because, you know, every artist should diversify.

Check out more of Hoo’s amazing work on his Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and Twitter.
