Amazing anime-themed flatbed truck is the biggest itasha we’ve ever seen 【Photos】

Many fans choose to wear T-shirts plastered with pictures of their favorite anime or video game characters, therein letting them broadcast their love for the fictional figures to everyone they pass by. Of course, if want to get that message of devotion to even more people, you can always turn your car into an itasha, a vehicle covered with anime stickers.

But even a coupe or sedan only gives you so much sheet metal to work with. That’s why one fan decided he needed an even bigger canvas, and created an itasha like we’ve never seen before: an ita-flatbed truck with some gigantic artwork of his 2-D muses.

Kantai Collection, more commonly called by its nickname KanColle, started off as a video game about World War II-era Japanese warships personified as (naturally) cute girls. It since went on to have its own anime adaptation, and the franchise is still extremely popular among the otaku set. KanColle is even making inroads overseas, as shown by this truck spotted in Taiwan.

Seen getting cozy on the front of the truck are characters Atago and Takao. The blond-haired Atago and raven-tressed Takao also show up on the cab’s doors.

But to really see what makes this project unlike any other itasha you’ll need an elevated vantage point. The truck’s bed appears to have originally come with a plain green tarp that can be put in place to cover its cargo, but thanks to the truck’s anime-loving owner it now has something a bit more eye-catching.

The back of the truck seems to be filled with construction materials, and we imagine it gets more than a few surprised looks when it pulls into a job site. Still, you have to assume that anyone who turns their transportation into an itasha is looking for at least a little bit of attention, and just think, all that carrying capacity will totally come in handy for carrying home the driver’s shopping from the next anime convention he attends.
