Celebrate 20 years of catching ’em all with Pokémon Center Japan’s new line of throwback goods.

When did you get your first Pokémon game? If you’re like many of us, Pokémon Red, Blue, or Yellow (or Green in Japan) was your first foray into the Pokémon universe.

You spent hours upon hours working at that Missingno glitch, using all your rare candies to beef up a team of level 100 Caterpies, sweeping the Elite Four with them, only to have your Hall of Fame data corrupted. Ah yes, the good ol’ days.

On February 27, as part of a year-long celebration of the 20th anniversary of the games’ debut, Pokémon Center Japan will release a new line of goods that feature the tiny menu sprites from the original games we all remember so fondly. The line of items includes cushions, hats, charms, and more.

Let’s have a look at the round-up:

▼ Wish that your couch looked more retro? Perhaps Pikachu or one of the hundreds of Pokémon these other two represent can help.

▼ All original 11 Pokémon menu sprites on keychains and pencil cases.
If only they came with a cursor to make them bob up and down….

▼ For the fashion-conscious trainers out there, these items
will complete your “Look out world! I’m a Pokémon Master!” look.

▼ Clear file folders and sticker sheets to use at the desk, and two types of towels to wipe the sweat from your brow after a hard day’s training.

▼ T-shirts of every nostalgic first generation Pokémon scene imaginable.
Many hours were burned at that game center to get Porygon….

That’s a ton of first-generation Pokémon swag! Looking at each item is like taking a stroll down memory lane and right into the local Pokémon gym.

Items in this collection run from 400 yen (US$3.50) to 8,600 yen ($75), and will be available at all Pokémon Center locations in Japan starting February 27, and select goods available at the Pokémon store on Amazon Japan.

With their target audience being 20 years older now, perhaps the slogan for these new items should be: “Gotta catch… enough to be financially responsible!”
