Massive Ghibli Exhibition opening next in Tokyo with artwork spanning Nausicaa to The Red Turtle

The official Ghibli Museum is closed for now, but look forward to a double dose of animated fun in July!

Those who have visited the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo have had a memorable glimpse into the history of the famous animation studio. There are plenty of fascinating artifacts and exhibits, but one thing is for sure, fans of the legendary anime studio always want even more.

But fear not! A gigantic exhibition is moving to Tokyo and setting up in Roppongi Hills at the Tokyo City View Observation Deck Sky Gallery.

The exhibition was open from March until May at the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, but this new installation in Tokyo will also include paraphernalia from Studio Ghibli’s newest movie, The Red Turtle, which is a co-production with French animation studio Wild Bunch.

This great exhibition will open from July 7 with adult admission costing 2,300 yen (US$21). Visitors will be able to see posters and flyers, initial proposals and vast amounts of animation material from all of the studio’s movies, which spans an impressive 30 years. The show only lasts until September 11, though, so Ghibli fans should be sure to get there before it’s gone.
