This new garment uses a specially designed insert to help cover those pesky high beams.

While women around the world fight to free the nipple, men in Japan are fighting to conceal theirs, at least in office situations, where surveys show that the resounding majority of women don’t want to see nipples poking through shirts in the workplace.

Now that summer’s Cool Biz season has arrived, with men ditching neckties and wearing shirts made from thinner material in an effort to combat the heat while still looking professional, the topic of male nipples is again on the radar. This year, however, a Japanese company has come up with a novel solution that’s extremely effective at concealing your nipples and restoring your confidence in the workplace.

The undershirt doesn’t look particularly attractive, but in the war on nipples, function takes pride of place over fashion. The skin-coloured material does a better job at disguising itself under light-coloured business shirts than a white undershirt, and its V-shaped neckline lets you loosen a few buttons without anyone having to see your undergarment.

While it looks like a regular undershirt on the outside, the secret to its nipple-concealing capabilities lies on the inside of the shirt. This is where a textured mesh-like material is attached, much in the same way that women’s singlets are sometimes produced with cup inserts for extra support.

Rather than providing support for breasts, this men’s-style bra top focuses on the nipple-concealing aspect of the insert, with the specially designed material working to lock the nipple in behind the mesh, ensuring it doesn’t poke through to the other side of the shirt.

The undershirt also includes a mesh section under each arm, to help guard against sweat marks as well.

Developed and manufactured by Marutaka Industry in Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, a city renowned for its long and revered history of textile production, the company has now started up a crowdfunding campaign in order to help mass produce the garment for the local market.

Campaign backers who contribute 8,100 yen (US$73.45) will be able to receive a shirt at a 25-percent discount of the planned retail price, while other options include three or five-piece sets, also available at discounted prices.

With 82 days left in the campaign, Marutaka has already received a huge amount of support for the product, amassing a total of 453,600 yen (US$4,114), or 45 perecent of their target goal of one million yen. Following the completion of the campaign, the shirts will be manufactured in August, with deliveries scheduled for September, meaning you’ll be covered for the tail-end of summer this year.

To cover yourself before then, you might want to consider investing in one of Japan’s nipple-concealing white T-shirts or, for the more adventurous, a pair of nipple covers to keep those prying eyes away from your chest and back on your face where they belong.

Finally, men can dress conservatively and not gross everyone out with their high-beams on.

As we have seen time and time again, the greatest threat to workplace tranquility is the male nipple. As gross as it is persistent, the male nipple refuses to stay hidden and, as a 2013 study suggests, disgusts 84 percent of people in a business environment.

Whether glowing a fierce brownish orange like two UFOs buried under an Antarctic ice sheet, or simply protruding against the shirt as if Kuato were about to emerge and offer guidance, some guys’ nipples simply refuse to be ignored.

A survey by the Seiso Shiro T Production Committee revealed the top ten impressions people have of men with visible nipples. As you might expect none are good.

1 – I can’t help but feel uneasy
2 – It’s gross
3 – It’s like they don’t care about those around them
4 – I instinctively can’t accept it
5 – It bums me out
6 – They seem oblivious, even at work
7 – I don’t want to associate with them
8 – They come across as unreliable
9 – They feel unhygienic
10 – I hope I never see them again

As you can see, visible male nipples pretty much run the gamut of negative emotions. In the same study, visible nipples ranked highest among fashion violations, above shoes without socks, back sweat, and even armpit hair extending beyond short sleeves.

But even with all this opposition, men with excessively stubborn nipples were at a loss. Sure they could wear an undershirt, but during the summer months the resulting sweat would just make those golden saucers visible again and transform their torso into some kind of moist giant owl.

But now the Seiso Shiro T Production Committee believes they have the answer: their self-titled Seiso Shiro T (Formal White T). Developed over the course of two years using state-of-the-art Japanese stitching techniques and high quality, pesticide-free cotton from Japan, the USA, Uganda, and India, it is the ultimate in nipple-obscuring technology.

Available in both v-neck and crew-neck styles for 9,000 yen (US$80) each, these shirts claim to be able to keep your nipples concealed in all but the most extreme conditions (i.e. swimming or standing directly in front of the bat signal).

The high price tag is partly due to these being a limited edition shirt with only 200 going on sale on 3 March, both online and at exhibitions held at a store specializing in white T-shirts in Sendagaya, Tokyo, called #FFFFFFT, a name which is nerdese for “White T” (Shiro T in Japanese).

This appears to be a trial run to ensure the demand is there, and if successful we will see more Seiso Shiro Ts for sale – and perhaps the dream of a nipple-free workplace will be acheived.

When it comes to iPhones, our Japanese writing team might be the biggest fans on the planet. Or at least the strangest. And while Mr. Sato had a busy week waiting for and getting the first iPhone sold in Japan, the rest of our Japanese writers haven’t been sitting around wasting time.

Nope, they’ve been testing vital features like the new iPhone’s hand-shake compensation and security features. We already know what happens when you tape an iPhone to a massage wand…but what happens when you try to lock and unlock it with your nipple?

Against all odds, RocketNews24 proved last year that it was possible to lock and unlock an iPhone 5s with more than just your finger using the fingerprint authentication. While a toe apparently worked, the real surprise was finding out that a nipple (preferably not slippery) would get iPhone to drop its defenses.

These are the kinds of important topics tackled here at RocketNews24. You won’t see the Wall Street Journal posting about massaging an iPhone with you nipple.

So, you know it worked with the iPhone 5s, but will it work with the iPhone 6 Plus, Apple’s attempt at the popular phablet form factor? Writer Hatori GO bared just a tiny bit to find out!

After a few failed attempts, GO was successful in registering his nipple with the fingerprint authentication function. It was apparently easier with the iPhone 5s, leading the sexy writer to surmise that Apple has stepped up their anti-nipple security. Take that, nudists!

But despite whatever areola-fighting measures Apple may (or may not) have implemented, GO did eventually manage to find success and his pink man nipple was registered! Then, we all held our breath to find out if he’d be able to actually unlock the phone or if he’d managed to turn it into a very expensive paperweight.

You’ll have to watch the video to see how it turned out!

Okay, obviously everything worked out fine–GO was able to both lock and unlock the phone simply by suckling it. In fact, you can even try this at home without worrying about being permanently locked out. He uses the number pad to unlock the phone at one point, so even if your fancy new device “forgets” what your nipple tastes like, you can still get through security.

But the real test is whether iPhone can differentiate between different boobs. Luckily, as you saw if you watched the video, another writer was on hand to give it a try.

Fortunately, it seems that the new iPhone won’t unlock for just any nipple–it has to be the one registered! So, good news, everyone, you now have a reason to walk around with your shirt open. “I need it to access my phone,” you can say, while gently massaging your chest. “There’s no security like nipple security!”

Probably the most intriguing feature of the new generation iPhone is its fingerprint authentication. Once recognized by the system, only the true user’s fingerprint will unlock the phone, rendering it impossible for anyone else operate.

However, registering a fingerprint has its drawbacks. Someone can easily press the phone against your finger while you sleep and have access to all your secrets. If you want maximum security, we recommend using your toe or nipple. They really work!

A toe is basically a finger on your foot so it stands to reason that the iPhone can detect a toe print as well. The phone detects your toe easily and anytime you need to use it. It works better than the finger because even when you’re sleeping who’s going to expect you to unlock your iPhone with your toe?

Granted, unlocking your phone with your toe can be inconvenient for some when on the go. If that’s the case for you, we recommend registering your nipples with the iPhone. Be careful though, the iPhone vibrates a little when registering which may be uncomfortable or arousing depending who you are.

It unlocks really fast by just casually and ever so gently pressing the device against your chest. As we know, nipples are like snowflakes in their individuality but is the iPhone good enough to distinguish one teat from the next? Our reporter Hatori GO registered his nipple and then asked a co-worker to try and unlock it.

After getting released from central booking, he decided to ask a male co-worker to try unlocking the iPhone with his nipple instead. Sure enough, foreign areolas could not bypass the iPhone’s solid security system.

All in all, the nipple seems like the best way to go. It’s conveniently located and very secure. We also attempted to register the tip of the nose with the system but it wouldn’t take. That would have been convenient if you had to access your phone with one hand!

It kind of makes you wonder though: was the phone was designed with nipples and toes in mind, and what other body parts would work?
