Because the cast of Prison School would just hate for things to get all wet and dirty.
Recently, we’ve seen a couple of anime series get their own lines of officially licensed lingerie. We’ve also seen multiple releases of undersized underwear designed to be slipped over a drink bottle to soak up the condensation from the chilled beverage inside. So perhaps it was inevitable that we’d one day see anime character panties for plastic bottles.
And that day is today.
Novelty goods maker Kitan Club, the company that previously gave Japan sushi cat figurines and futon-style smartphone holders, is teaming up with risque anime and manga franchise Prison School for its new PBP, or Prison School Plastic Bottle Panties and Underwear, collection. But whereas the lingerie lines for fellow anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Evangelion, and Sailor Moon took cues from the image colors of its prominent characters, the Prison Break panties go one step farther by being modeled on the underwear their representative characters are shown wearing within the anime itself.

The female characters’ panties are sized to fit snugly but comfortably around the bottom of a 500-mililiter (16.9-ounce) bottle, the most commonly found size in vending machines and convenience stores.

In addition, one male member of the Prison School gang is getting in on the action: plus-sized Andre, whose extra-large briefs are intended to wrap around a two-liter bottle.
Surprisingly, Andre’s undies aren’t any more expensive than his female classmates’, as each pair of Prison School plastic bottle underpants is priced at 490 yen (US$4.40). The whole line initially goes on sale at the Animega specialty shop in Tokyo’s Odaiba neighborhood, and is expected to make its way to anime retailers elsewhere soon. Pick up all six, and as long as you’re willing to let your cold beverages go commando on Sundays, you’ll be set for the week.

If you’re looking for a new way to make karaage, or Japanese-style fried chicken, how about taking some inspiration from the underground student council vice president of hit manga/anime/TV drama Prison School? We liked how character Meiko Shiraki’s karaage, coated with kaki-no-tane rice crackers, looked in the manga and anime, so we decided to give it a shot!
The extremely voluptuous Meiko has also been well-endowed with talent in the kitchen. Even on paper, her dishes looked so interesting and delicious that we just had to give it a try ourselves. Throw out your old karaage recipe; it’s time for some kaki-no-tane Japanese fried chicken!
For those wondering what kaki-no-tane are, they’re a thin, crescent-shaped rice cracker coated with soy sauce and chili powder. Often packaged with peanuts (and called “kaki peanuts” or “kaki-pea”), the slightly spicy, crunchy little guys make for a great snack when drinking. But why devour them as snacks, when you can elevate them to a main course? The vice president says that when kaki-no-tane are used as a crust, it’s all the seasoning you will need.
Since we didn’t really have a recipe to follow, we looked at Chapter 42 of the manga and Episode 7 of the anime to get as close as possible to her recipe. Our ingredients were:
For five pieces of karaage
● Chicken: 300 grams (10.6 ounces)
● Eggs: 1 egg
● Flour: enough to coat the chicken
● Kaki no tane: 40 grams (1.4 ounces)
Instructions
1. Crush the kaki no tane into smaller pieces. Don’t pound them into a fine powder, but leave the pieces still large enough to give the coating texture.
2. Dredge the chicken in flour and then dip it in the beaten egg.
3. Coat the chicken with the crushed kaki-no-tane.
4. Fry or bake!
Karaage is traditionally fried in a pan of oil, but the kaki-no-tane burn easily, so you have to watch them very carefully. We recommend frying the chicken twice, the first time at 180**°** Celsius (about 350**°** Fahrenheit) for one minute, allowing them to rest for five minutes and then frying again at 160**°** Celsius (about 325**°** Fahrenheit) for 30 seconds. For those who’d like to avoid an oily mess, you can try baking them in the oven at 220**°** Celsius (about 430**°** Fahrenheit) for 20 minutes.
This simple dish is packed with flavor and has a satisfying balance between tender meat and crunchy coating. You can’t ask for anything more from fried chicken. Colonel Sanders’ combination of 11 herbs and spices be damned, all you need is this kaki-no-tane recipe from Prison School!

Last month, we got our first in-costume look at the cast of the upcoming live-action TV adaptation of manga and anime Prison School. But while the production’s casting directors, stylists, and costumers have done a commendable job making the real-life performers look like their 2-D inspirations, fans have been wondering if the live-action Prison School will still feel like its source material.
After all, it’s not uncommon for there to be a major shift in tone when anime goes live-action, and a lot of the outlandishly pervy stuff that goes on in the animated Prison School ostensibly gets a pass from censors because it’s not being done by real people. Still, it doesn’t look like the live-action Prison School is looking to change the formula that worked for both the anime and the manga, as its two preview videos show it’s still perfectly happy to bask in its ludicrous lewdness, as well as repeatedly ask the question “Do you prefer butts or breasts?”
Heads-up! Depending on how accepting your workplace environment is of ludicrous lewdness, you might want to save these videos for after you get home.
Neither teaser is subtitled, so let’s start with the less linguistically complex of the two.
Even if you’ve never taken a class in Japanese, you probably caught the repeated utterances of the words shiri and mune by the school’s mustachioed Chairman Kurihara. So what do shiri and mune mean?
“Butts” and “breasts.”
Kurihara is asking the boys whether they prefer a woman’s bust or bottom, in one of the many scenes in which Prison School takes an absurdly sexualized situation and treats it with dead seriousness. In this particular instance, the five boys who make up the core cast are facing expulsion, and the fate of their academic careers hangs in the balance of how they answer the extremely inappropriate question. Adding another layer of psychological tension is that they know Kurihara himself can’t get enough of that wonderful butt, but would he view having students with similarly specific salacious tastes in a positive or negative light?

Of course, most of the boys’ torment comes in more direct form from the female students who administer Hachimitsu Academy’s on-site jailhouse, which is highlighted in Prison School’s second preview.
“We assumed the joys of youth were waiting for us,” begins protagonist Kiyoshi, looking back on the group’s expectations as they were accepted into the newly co-ed high school. Before long, though, the cleavage-peek and panty-flash filled daydream turns into a nightmare.

Yep, looks like Prison School is planning to pull no punches, or tongues, when it debuts on October 25 on broadcaster MBS.

Even if you can’t please everyone when making the transitions, in the case of something like Attack on Titan, having a huge, solidly cemented fanbase that’s hungry for more content is incredibly attractive to producers.
But not every anime-to-live-action project is based on such an established hit. While creator Akira Hiramoto’s Prison School manga was first published in 2011, its TV anime hasn’t even been on the air for two months yet. Nevertheless, there’s already a live-action television drama in the works, and the first pictures of the cast, in costume, have just been released.
Prison School is set in Hachimitsu Academy, and while ordinarily it’d be odd enough for a school that until recently was only for girls to give itself a name that means “Honey Academy,” what really makes the school unique is that it has its own on-campus jailhouse. As the series opens, Hachimitsu Academy has just gone co-ed, and the story follows the school’s first handful of male students.
In short order, though, the boys find themselves on the wrong side of Hachimitsu’s strict code of student conduct, which responds to transgressions with imprisonment and sadistic punishments which are, surprise, doled out by their attractive female classmates.
Playing protagonist Kiyoshi Fujino will be Taishi Nakagawa, who also appeared in last year’s TV drama adaptation of Hell Teacher Nube.
Meanwhile, the producers turned to the world of gurabia swimwear models to cast Asana Mamoru as Meiko Shiraki, the vice president of Hachimitsu’s shadowy Underground Student Council.
▼ Ironically, Hachimitsu Academy is controlling enough to need a prison, yet very hands-off in limiting how much cleavage students are allowed to show while in uniform.
While Meiko’s domineering personality would frighten a lesser man, masochist Reiji Ando (played by comedian Gari Gari Garikuson), whose family name has earned him the nickname Andre, is more than happy to offer himself as a target on which to vent her vexation.
The identity of the man slipping on the hoody of the mysterious Joji “Joe” Nezu is still a mystery, although maybe some of the actor’s more ardent fans will recognize his cheeks and chin.
Mari Kurihara, president of the Underground Student Council, will be portrayed by Hirona Yamazaki, who was also seen in horror movie As the Gods Will.
Tokio Emoto will rock the spectacles of the anime’s Takehito “Gakuto” Morokuzu.
Aoi Morikawa, whose resume includes the xxxHolic TV drama, will appear as Underground School Council secretary Hana Midorikawa.
Chiyo, Mari’s sister, Kiyoshi’s objet d’amour, and daughter of the school’s chairman, will be played by Rena Takeda in her TV drama debut.
Speaking of Chairman Kurihara, actor Masahiro Takashima is looking pretty close to the manga version, mustache and all.
Filling the role of Shingo Wakamoto, the final member of Hachimitsu’s undersized male student body, is Masato Yano, who also showed up in the 2012 TV drama iteration of GTO.
And finally, rounding out the central cast is Yuko Araki, who appeared in Kamen Rider Wizard before being tapped to play Prison School’s Anzu Yokoyama.
Considering how much of Prison School is composed of disturbingly perverted hijinks and punishments, much of which is censored even in anime form for its TV broadcast, it remains to be seen just how faithful the live-action version can be to its source material. But at the very least, these photos show us that when the cameras are allowed to be on the cast, they’ll at least be looking the part.
The Prison School drama premiers on MBS at 12:50 a.m. on October 26. If you’re having trouble waiting, you can always head over to the show’s official website and pass the time scalding Meiko’s cleavage with hot coals or whipping the buttocks of an indeterminable member of the male cast.
